Strong communication and interpersonal skills to connect with individuals, families, and professionals

What will my day to day look like?

This is a full-time role working 4-5 days per week. It involves a hybrid model of work including from home but also across multiple settings, such as schools, residential facilities, hospitals, prisons, Supported Disability Accommodations (SDAs) and private homes across metropolitan Melbourne. You will have your own caseload that will be your responsibility to manage, with minimum billables that are realistic and reasonable to ensure your mental sustainability in the role. There is also a level of flexibility for when you want to work. Day to day, you will be responsible for managing your calendar, appointments, and communications. An example of a day's work could be visiting two participants at their relevant accommodations and homes, taking a phone call from a stakeholder and coming home to do your notes. Another day may be primarily care team meetings, trainings and reflective practices with care teams. You may also make a day for report writing.

You will be responsible for assessing, developing and implementing person-centred behaviour support that meets underlying needs and fosters growth in individuals with varied presentations including neurodiversity, intellectual disabilities and psychosocial disabilities. Your theoretical and practical skillset, as well as empathic ability to understand the individual, will be crucial in guiding and supporting them and their team through behavioural challenges and facilitating skill development.

The Essentials

Registration as a Behaviour Support Practitioner with NQSGC

Minimum 18 months experience with behaviour support, with familiarity of relevant legislation and ethical guidelines

Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field

Experience in providing direct support to clients with complex mental health presentations and diverse needs

Must have a full driver's licence and a car

Working with Children Check (WWCC)

NDIS Working Screener Check

Australian citizen or permanent resident

Preferable Points

Postgraduate degree/Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field

Experience providing therapeutic support to children
