Senior Autonomous Systems Network Engineer (Defence)
Aerial Systems Autonomy Capability Development
Exciting Opportunity to be part of a cutting-edge Defence Project
Attractive Contract Role as part of an Aerial Systems Autonomy Team
Melbourne-based but flexible delivery from Adelaide and/or Remote
YTEK is an independent Australian engineering and technology development organization, and a longstanding and trusted supplier of engineering and scientific services to Australian Defence R&D. Due to growing demand YTEK now requires a suitably qualified and experienced practitioner to join its ranks.
The Working Environment: A relaxed, professional and collaborative space, with the buzz of Defence research and advanced technology all around.
Role Summary: This role supports an Aerial Systems Autonomy (ASA) centre by managing network infrastructure, automation, and administration for the Robotic and Autonomous Systems network (RASNET), crucial for the development and testing of Robotic and Autonomous Systems (RAS). The role involves secure network link establishment, automating provisioning, and providing ongoing network support for autonomous system trials. This is a thoroughly rewarding position supporting a significant Defence capability within DSTG. You would be part of YTEK Frontline Staff joining a DSTG team.
The Candidate: We are looking for a suitably qualified Network or Software Engineer, or Computer Scientist, or equivalent; with previous experience relevant to the role.
Prerequisite qualifications: Network or Software Engineering or Computer Systems Engineering or Equivalent or Higher Qualifications. Post Grads with relevant backgrounds would suit.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Engineering: Establish and secure network links between sites (Melbourne and Adelaide).
Automation: Automate provisioning of network devices and synchronize system mirrors (e.g. Python pip).
System Integration: Support remote field trials, integrating networked systems and ensuring compatibility with secure networks.
Deployment Planning: Prepare and plan network infrastructure for autonomous system trials.
Technical Support: Provide ongoing administration, troubleshooting, and user support.
Collaboration: Work with ASA staff, network managers, and digital science teams to ensure smooth operations.
Key Skills & Experience:
Network Engineering & Security: Experience in secure network planning and implementation.
Automation & Scripting: Proficient in automating provisioning processes.
System Integration: Expertise in managing systems for autonomous trials.
Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills with a focus on network support.
Collaboration: Ability to work across technical teams.
Other requirements: This role requires candidates to be an Australian Citizen, so YTEK may sponsor you for a security clearance application. Naturally, a previous or current Australian Security Clearance would be highly regarded and would put you ahead of the queue as the role requires a BASELINE security clearance.
