Comverge Networks is an experienced systems integrator and we design, construct, operate and manage advanced networks which deliver telecommunications, entertainment, and security requirements to our clients across many industries. We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join our enthusiastic team on a permanent part-time or contract basis based in Boronia, Melbourne. The position has scope to become a full-time role.

The Role

The Senior Network Engineer will work closely with the ICT Manager to oversee and administer our networks and systems.

Key responsibilities include:

• Oversee all facets of our networks and IT infrastructure, ensuring compliance with best practices, customer expectations and our agreed service level agreements.
• Offer technical guidance to team members and customers, providing expertise and support throughout the project lifecycle, especially during the design and build phases.
• Negotiate, collaborate, and engage with suppliers, service providers, system integrators to deliver high-quality services and solutions.
• Design and documentation of customer networks.
• Testing, installation and commissioning of customer networks.
• On-going maintenance, troubleshooting and fault rectification for customer networks.
• Available outside of business hours when required.
• Stay up to date with developments in IP-based technology and make recommendations on suitable technology to be used in networks designed and built by Comverge.
• Ensure best practices in all aspects of occupational health and safety (OH&S) and other requirements relating to good work practices and safe working environments.

Technical Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Knowledge and experience designing and maintaining DHCP provisioning systems.
• Knowledge and experience in designing and implementing enterprise network solutions across LAN, WAN, wireless and cloud.
• Deep technical experience in a specialty area that may include one or more of routing/switching, SD-WAN, network security or wireless.
• Experience in RF, HFC and GPON is highly desirable.
• Experience in Calix and CASA systems is highly desirable.
• Experience working in a disciplined service delivery and consulting environment and being accountable for your time is desirable.
• Understanding of the security implications and controls within the solutions.
• Ability to discuss requirements and solutions at both a technical level and a business/user level.
• Knowledge of IT Service Management & ITIL practices.
• Experience working with project management teams and leading project delivery.
• Exceptional network documentation skills.

About You

We’re looking for someone who will oversee all elements of our networks and systems.

The successful candidate will:

• Possess proven experience in managing and maintaining large-scale routing and switching infrastructure within complex environments.
• Possess high level communication and interpersonal skills
• Hold a current Victorian Driver’s Licence
• Be prepared to undertake a Police Check.

Requirements:

• 10+ years' experience delivering professional IT services.
• 5+ years of relevant experience working as a network engineer.
• Degree in computer systems & networking, information systems or equivalent. Relevant industry/vendor certifications such as Cisco CCNA or CCNP may substitute for the formal qualification.
• Fortinet FCP Network Security or FCSS Network Security or equivalent NSE certification is desirable.
