About the role

The Port of Hastings Corporation is seeking a highly experienced Project Controls Lead to join our dynamic team based in Crib Point, Victoria. As the Project Controls Lead, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of our major construction projects by providing expert planning, scheduling and reporting services. This full-time (hybrid) position is crucial in supporting our organisation's strategic objectives and growth initiatives.

What you'll be doing

The Project Controls Lead will perform a strategic support function within the Project Management Office (PMO) fulfilling the following three channels:

Co-ordinator

· Alignment between packages of work across workstreams in respect to financial controls and project schedule

· Prioritisation of project activities

· Cross workstream co-ordination through identifying and managing dependencies

Assurance

· Manage schedule and budget at the program level

· Provide centralised support for managing change and tracking risks and issues

· Single source of truth on the project, improving quality of information for decision making

Supporter

· Provide specialist services to the project packages and workstreams

· Preparation of report to the Board of Directors, Steer Committee and other Government forums

· Increased speed of delivery through alignment of a central resource pool

Responsibilities include:

· Executing the responsibilities as outlined in the Victorian Renewal Energy Terminal (VRET) Management Plans.

· Performance and development of assigned staff. This includes providing guidance, training, motivation and direction to staff.

· Actively foster constructive working relationships within the Project Management Office and the broader VRET team.

Provide strategic advice to the Manager Major Projects and the Major Projects Director in:

· Program schedule updates, reforecasting schedule, critical path activities and schedule optimisation

· Financial control, forecast to completion and dashboard reporting

· Risk, issue and opportunity management

Who we're looking for

This position sits within a high-performing project team and requires someone with strong scheduling expertise, attention to detail, and confidence managing month-to-month financials. You’ll work closely with project and workstream leads, providing insights, reporting, and ensuring seamless coordination between planning, delivery, and commercial operations.

Extensive experience in a project controls role, ideally within the construction or related industry sectors

Demonstrated expertise in project planning, scheduling, reporting and risk management on large scale projects

Proficient in the use of project management software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels

Tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as Engineering, Project Management or Construction Management
