Role Purpose
The purpose of this position is to provide key support to the Coordinator Finance and Manager Finance with the delivery of efficient, high quality financial services including accounts payable (creditors and payroll), purchase card administration and general financial support. This will include:
- Manage and be subject matter expert for the Authority Accounts Payable module, ensuring the module is working efficiently and effectively, raising any operational problems with the supplier (via IT Services).
- Supervise the delegated financial authority process and support requisitioners and approvers with purchasing, invoice processing and system related queries.
- Ensure that Council’s financial records and reports are maintained accurately, and that Council meets its statutory obligations concerning financial reporting matters. Reconcile accounts and ensure timely processing of creditor payments and other accounting transactions.
Key Selection Criteria:
Essential qualifications and experience
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of bookkeeping principles, procedures, and practices.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of cash handling and banking procedures.
- High-level computer skills and experience with accounting-based software packages.
- A Certificate in Bookkeeping or demonstrated relevant bookkeeping experience.
Desirable qualifications and experience
- Understanding of and experience in the operations of local government.
- An understanding of financial administrative duties.
- Experience working with corporate integrated software (Civica Authority preferred).
