Ice Skating Queensland Inc. owns and operates Iceworld Olympic Ice Rinks which are located in Acacia Ridge and Boondall.

Qualifications & experience

• Formal trade qualifications in Fitting Machining, Mechanical, Electrical trades or similar.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols, risk management and compliance standards.
• Experience in petrol/LPG engine repairs and maintenance with a general understanding of refrigeration systems
• An experienced, capable DIY person
• Welding, MIG, TIG, Oxy &/or stick are highly regarded

Tasks & responsibilities

• This role is responsible for the delivery of a safe, sustainable ice surface that meets the needs of all sporting and recreational users. This may vary by month and/or season.
• With support from the Project & Maintenance Manager, plan and review weekly and monthly work plans, ensuring facility compliance and risk mitigation standards are adhered to.
• Key individual responsible for identifying and managing risks in the delegated venue, regularly updating the Risk Register, and taking appropriate and timely action, working in partnership with Operational staff as appropriate.
• Overall responsibility for the repair and maintenance of the venue’s ice resurfacing machinery, always ensuring two vehicles are operational.
• Responsible for the training and appropriate supervision of operational staff in the safe and effective use of ice resurfacing machinery.
• Directed by the Projects & Maintenance Manager, adhere to all relevant licensing and permits for building management and facility operations (e.g. waste management, building codes and permits).
