An opportunity has arisen for an energetic and enthusiastic Palliative Care Registered Nurse (Division 1) to join the Toowoomba Hospice Nursing Team on a permanent part time basis. This position is best suited to a professional who is compassionate and who genuinely aspires to support people to live their last days with dignity, love, and dedicated care.
We are seeking a Registered Nurse who can immediately take on a PPT position of at least 6 shifts per fortnight. As we are a 24hr service shifts are 8.5hrs either morning, afternoon or night.
You will be required to demonstrate current knowledge and skills in delivering appropriate symptom management, and support for terminal patients and their family and or carers. The successful applicant will also be involved in quality improvement and service development initiatives.

The Toowoomba Hospice is a not for profit, accredited, private, 6 bed healthcare facility, based in Toowoomba. The Toowoomba Hospice has been well supported by community funding for over 18 years. We provide culturally appropriate, patient centred palliative care, to our clients and their families.

Requirements
Skills and Experience
Current registration with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency
Minimum of 3-5 Years’ Nursing Experience in palliative care, acute care, or community nursing
Additional nursing experience in Palliative care is highly desirable
Current professional development portfolio
Evidence of extensive Clinical skills
Successful applicants will need to supply a criminal history check (obtained within the last 12 months).
Successful applicants may be required to disclose any previous serious disciplinary action.
To be eligible for appointment, applicants must provide proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency or a right to stay indefinitely. Unfortunately the Hospice is not in a position to offer Visa sponsorship.
The successful applicant will consider the following capability requirements:

Demonstrate an understanding of palliative care standards and national care standards

Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills: confidently present complex information and concepts clearly, succinctly, and sensitively, both orally and in writing particularly when faced with challenging circumstances and a strong sense of professional boundaries and integrity
Demonstrate evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking, and analysis in their daily practice as a registered nurse
Deliver accountable and collaborative integrated palliative care that respects the culture and context of each client and their family, and community in accordance with policies and procedures, statutory responsibilities, and legislation
Demonstrated effective time management skill and ability to prioritize competing workloads within a complex environment
Capacity to escalate concerns and implement appropriate steps required
Provide emotional support for clients and families
Be flexible, with the ability to respond to changing requirements and timeliness
Demonstrate the ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment
Demonstrate the commitment to own personal and professional development
Display personal drive and integrity: You can exercise professional judgement and take personal responsibility for delivering quality outcomes while maintaining professional practice and behaviour in a challenging and complex environment

Draw on demonstrated provisional expertise in one or more disciplinary areas in order to undertake more complex and/or demanding workloads and/or provide training and support to less experienced nurses, student nurses, personal care assistant and volunteers
Demonstrated basic computer literacy (e.g., MS Word, email, online training)
