Apply scientific knowledge and judgement in the analysis of samples and specimens leading to the delivery of state-wide testing services for public and environmental health microbiology/virology particularly in Entomology, Molecular Epidemiology and Genomics testing, reporting to a diverse client base.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Knowledge and skills in the provision of contemporary public health microbiological/virological testing, particularly as this applies to entomology and molecular epidemiology.
- Knowledge and skills in entomology and molecular methods.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills for contributing to laboratory specific documents including research reports, databases, emailing staff and clients.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to a laboratory service that is compliant with NATA/NPAAC/ISO/IEC17025/15189 quality accreditation, standard methods and relevant regulatory guidelines and professional standards.
Qualifications, registrations, and other requirements
- The successful applicant must hold at least a recognised tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in science majoring in Microbiology, Virology or Molecular Genomics.
- While not mandatory, experience in working in a genomics scientific team is highly desirable.

- The position will be utilised at times to assist in the delivery of a 24-hour, 7-day public health services. All newly appointed staff are engaged with the understanding that they may be required to work any rostered shift within the 24-hour 7-day roster period, including overtime as required and participate in an On-call roster.
