The GP/Rural Generalist – Obstetrics and Gynaecology supports the Miwatj Midwifery team by ensuring midwives and clinic GPs are equipped to deliver continuity of care for women of all risk levels throughout their pregnancy journey. It involves coordinating care for high-risk and complex antenatal cases, including referrals to tertiary centres when needed, and supporting the delivery of individualized care plans aligned with a care-on-country framework. The position also provides access to Adult Health Checks (715) during booking appointments, either face-to-face or via telehealth. A key focus is participating in clinical governance, advocating for best practices in remote settings, strengthening relationships with referral hospitals, and reporting on and addressing antenatal care KPIs. The role works closely with the Maternal/Women’s Health Program Lead and supports the DMS in reviewing obstetric cases.

Essential Requirements
This role involves working in remote Aboriginal communities, so applicants must demonstrate a commitment to Aboriginal Community Control, self-determination, and an understanding of the unique challenges faced by Yolŋu people. You must have:
- A current Registration and Practicing Certificate as a Medical Practitioner through AHPRA
- Extensive experience in General Practice or rural/remote healthcare settings
