About us

The Minimally Invasive Surgery Centre (MISC) is the first facility of its kind in Queensland, dedicated to the advancement of the latest Ultra-Minimally Invasive Musculoskeletal Interventions and Surgeries.

MISC is the only clinic in Queensland offering the new Ultrasound-Guided Carpal Tunnel Release Surgery. The clinic is home to Maguire Upper Limb, Sports and Orthopaedic Specialists, and the Carpal Tunnel Clinic Gold Coast.

The clinic also performs several other ultrasound-guided or Minimally Invasive Surgeries, including trigger finger release, ganglion decompression, De Quervain's release, arthroscopy of the hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder and knee and Adipose-Derived Stem Cell Treatments into all joints and soft tissues of the body (apart from the spine).

Qualifications & experience

• Medical Degree & AHPRA Registration
• No prior training or experience is required (non-anaesthetist or sedationist)
• Interest in learning Orthopaedic, Sports Medicine & Ultrasound Skills
• Interest in developing Advanced Surgical Skills (non-anaesthetist or sedationist)
• Interest in working in a Theatre Environment
• If you are an anaesthetist or sedationist (or another doctor if eligible), you can charge for ultrasound-guided blocks and anesthetic fees instead of an hourly rate of pay (we are a Licenced Imaging Centre with an LSPN for an ultrasound)

Tasks & responsibilities

• Assisting and learning to perform ultrasound-guided local anaesthesia and regional blocks
• Assisting with hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder surgeries and Stem Cell Surgeries
• Potentially learning to perform ultrasound-guided interventions (Cortisone, Needle Fenestration and PRP) and Stem Cell Surgery
