On Group is seeking an accomplished Chief Financial & Operations Officer (CFO/COO) to join a thriving, independent, family-owned business at the forefront of the building services industry. This is a unique opportunity for a strategic and hands-on leader to drive financial performance, operational excellence, and business transformation across two business entities. Reporting directly to the CEO and leading a team of six, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of a business renowned for innovation, customer focus, and industry leadership.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Partnership with the CEO: Work closely with the CEO on business strategy, execution, and financial direction. Provide high-quality insights, options, and risk analysis to support key growth decisions and translate strategic goals into commercial and financial plans.
Financial Strategy & Commercial Leadership: Oversee planning, budgeting, and forecasting for both business entities. Lead profitability analysis by customer, product group, and project, and evaluate investment opportunities, working capital needs, and growth initiatives. Guide sales and marketing in pricing strategy, margin analysis, and commercial modelling.
Operational Excellence: Drive operational governance, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure scalable, efficient business operations. Oversee governance across key functions in the business.
Financial Literacy & Capability Building: Build financial acumen across all departments and foster a culture of accountability and performance. Ensure leaders understand their numbers and drivers of performance1.
Performance Metrics & Reporting: Define and implement key financial and operational metrics. Ensure robust financial reporting, forecasting, and compliance, and drive outcome-based accountability1.
Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance and operations team.
About You: Skills & Experience
Minimum 5 years' experience as a strategic CFO in a senior finance/operations leadership role, ideally within distribution, engineering, or manufacturing sectors.
Demonstrated ability to lead financial strategy, commercial planning, and operational improvement across multiple business units.
Strong business partnering skills, with the ability to influence at all levels and work collaboratively with the CEO and executive team.
Expertise in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and commercial analysis.
Track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
Exceptional communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills.
CA/CPA or equivalent qualification is highly regarded.
