About Northern Health:

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north.

Services are provided through our five main campuses:

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.

About Mental Health Division:

Northern Health is the third largest mental health service in Victoria Northern.

Within the Mental Health Division, we pride ourselves on providing high quality mental health services to people living in the northern regions of Melbourne, and work in a collaborative way with consumers and carers based on recovery principles.

We aim to provide strong clinical leadership to support all staff in the provision of professional treatment and care by our integrated community teams, inpatient, and residential services.

The Role:

This maternity leave, full time position provides an exciting senior nursing opportunity for an experienced mental health nurse with an interest in training and development.

The position will take the lead in ensuing that approaches and training for the prevention and management of OVA across the mental health division at Northern Health are evidence based and delivered in a safe an effective manner.

There is a well established team to support this role.

The prevention and management of occupational violence and aggression coordinator for the mental health division at Northern Health is a key leadership role and will have opportunities to directly influence clinical care and practice.

The role will work closely with the acute/ sub acute PAMOVA coordinator to ensure a whole of service approach to training in the prevention and management of OVA training across all Northern Health sites.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent) and currently registered with AHPRA
  • Post graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing
  • Experience in providing training in managing aggression/OVA or a passion and interest in this area of practice with the ability to develop the expertise required.
  • A comprehensive understanding of acute and sub-acute nursing environment of care
  • Delivered training and education
  • Good project management skills
