Operations Supervisor Needed, Ballarat-Based Role, Progressive Opportunity, Excellent Salary

Hays Recruitment has partnered with a well-known, family-owned and run manufacturing organisation in Ballarat. Responsible for high-precision CNC machining and for the manufacturing of connectors for the framing and building industry, they require an experienced Operations Supervisor, who has exposure to all aspects of the business, including finance and purchasing, production supervision, scheduling and maintenance and costing.
Your new role
As an experienced Operations Supervisor, your day-to-day duties will include, but not limited to the following:
- Schedule jobs for production - CNC and Press Shop work
- Coordinate equipment and labour for the timely completion of production
- Engage and participate in Lean manufacturing programs
- Suggest and plan improvements in factory efficiency and processes
- Update and maintain WHS program
- Purchasing experience, including negotiating with suppliers on costs of steel for production
- Costing and quoting on projects
- Ensure materials are available for production in a timely manner
- Document and regulate quality control standards and procedures
- Interpret production data to improve efficiency and profitability
- Assertive but also willing to take on ideas and plans
- Respond to unplanned delays and breakdowns quickly
- Liaise with customers on technical queries
- Implement and manage preventative maintenance schedule
What you'll need to succeed
- Previous experience as an Operations Manager in a Manufacturing sector
- At least 5 plus years' experience in a people management role
- Experience in CNC Machining or Toolmaking would be highly desirable.
- Purchasing - proven experience, ideally within the steel industry
- Experience negotiating with suppliers
- Experience with documentation, quality control standards and procedures
- Good with people - earn their respect and confidence quickly
- Able to handle pressure and stress
- Attention to detail
