Position Title: Research Governance Officer
Classification: HS3
Department: Clinical Trials and Research Unit
About the Role: 32 Hours Per Fortnight; Permanent Part Time
The Research Governance Officer (RGO) will provide support to the Research Unit Manager and Chief Medical Officer in all administrative duties associated with research governance matters. The primary responsibility is to ensure that human research conducted by Bass Coast Health, conforms to the requirements of the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research ‘the Code’, the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research and the National Clinical Trials Governance Framework (NCTGF).
The position involves review of quality assurance project applications, site-specific applications, and changes to authorised research; monitoring of research performance; support for the development of standard processes and guidelines; maintenance of data to support reporting; training for researchers and; assisting in the implementation of the NCTGF.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Mandatory:
· High level of capability to deliver and manage effective administrative and project processes.
· High level interpersonal and communication skills and ability to collaborate and interact with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
· Demonstrated problem solving, negotiation, judgement and strategy skills.
· High level computer skills – data entry, MS Office, MS Teams, Zoom, databases and ability to learn new programs within a short time frame.
· Ability to work independently and be flexible, and experienced in dealing with competing priorities, deadlines or unforeseen events.
· Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team, exercise judgement and independence, undertake decision making at a high level, and provide sound advice to senior unit team members and stakeholders.
· Proven high level organisation skills and exceptional time management skills with high focus on the quality of work outcomes.
· Entitlement to work within Australia
· A Police Check that is current and within 12 months of the issue date
· Provision of valid Working with Children Check
· Seasonal influenza vaccination of healthcare workers in accordance with Secretary, Department of Health Directions
Desirable:
· An understanding of clinical trials, research ethics, research governance, privacy and ICH-GCP principles.
· Relevant Tertiary Qualification in Life Sciences
