About the company:

Our client, a not-for-profit based just north of Melbourne’s CBD is looking for a National WHS Manager to join their team on a 12-month contract. Reporting to the Director, People & Culture, you’ll drive the WHS agenda across all sites, ensuring systems, policies, and procedures are best practice and aligned with legislative obligations. You’ll lead a small WHS team, comprising of an Injury Management Advisor and WHS Coordinator, collaborate closely with senior leaders to foster a proactive, risk-aware, and people-first safety culture.

This is s a full-time role, working Monday – Friday, on a 12-month contract. The organisation operates on a hybrid model, typically working 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving the Safety Management System, including associated WHS frameworks, management plans, initiatives, policies, and procedures.
• Monitor risk, oversee audits, and ensure all employer obligations and reporting requirements are met under WHS legislation.
• Provide expert advice on critical incidents, injury prevention, and workers compensation, including supporting early intervention and investigations.
• Lead initiatives that foster a culture of wellbeing and psychological safety through proactive risk management and training.
• Collaborate with executive and senior leaders to drive a strong safety culture, chair Health & Safety Committee meetings, and deliver strategic WHS priorities.
• Manage the WHS and Injury Management team, promoting shared accountability, knowledge sharing, and ongoing professional development.
  
  

About You

• Tertiary qualification in OHS or equivalent
• Proven experience in a senior WHS leadership role, ideally in a not-for-profit, healthcare, or community services environment
• In-depth understanding of WHS legislation and incident reporting obligations
• Ability to work across multiple sites and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
• Strong communication, coaching, and report writing skills
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is highly desirable
