Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Occupational Therapists to join the Renal Outpatient Team.

About Northern Health

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north.

Services are provided through our five main campuses:

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity exists for an Occupational Therapist to join our team at Northern Health. This role requires a therapist with experience in community or inpatient settings who is passionate about providing person-centred care.

The Grade 3 Occupational Therapist will be accountable for providing an evidence-based Occupational Therapy service to Northern Health patients through the application of competent clinical skills in assessment, intervention, and discharge planning. This role works within Renal outpatient/community services which is currently based at the Northern Hospital Epping, but also services Epping Private Hospital, Broadmeadows Hospital, Craigieburn Centre and Kilmore District Hospital as required.

The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for completing pre-home dialysis assessments for both peritoneal dialysis and haemodialysis, as well as providing intervention to support patients to maintain their preferred dialysis modality. Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention will also be provided for nephrology patients including the provision of symptom management for Chronic Kidney Disease. This role works closely with allied health colleagues and renal staff, including nursing, nephrologists, and chronic kidney disease educators.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Recognised tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy
  • Fully registered as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Victorian Driver's License
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrated experience working with chronic health conditions
  • A good working knowledge of community services
  • Commitment to lifelong learning
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
