About the business and the role

Porters Plainland Hotel is seeking an experienced Retail Manager to head up the hotel's extensive retail operations. The hotel has a large drive through bottleshop, a detached bottleshop at Plainland Plaza as well as a successful online store.

The retail business runs alongside a successful hotel which currently employs over 120 people and has been independently run by the Porter family for almost 80 years. Plainland is a fast-growing area in the Lockyer Valley located 45 minutes from Toowoomba and 1 hour from the western suburbs of Brisbane. This position would be suitable for an experienced Retail Manager looking for a tree change.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee all aspects of retail operations across two stores

Lead, train and motivate a team to deliver outstanding service

Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, stock control and stocktakes

Create and manage staff rosters

Ensure compliance with liquor licensing regulations

Maintain clean, well-presented displays and ensure stock levels are optimised

Work closely with the management team to drive promotions and sales performance

Ensuring that the business is meeting all of our buying group's, Bottlemart, criteria and that promotional plans are followed

Building and maintaining relationships with key suppliers

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Previous experience as a Retail or Bottleshop Manager (essential)

Excellent leadership and communication skills

Strong organisational and time management abilities

Knowledge of stock control, ordering systems and POS software (iControl)

Ability to work across a flexible roster, including weekends and public holidays

RSA Certificate and current QLD driver’s licence

A forklift licence is beneficial but not essential
