About the Role
As Legal Counsel, you will provide high-quality legal support and advice across a range of areas including property law, planning law, employment law, industrial relations, and governance. Working under the guidance of General Counsel and supported by paralegal staff, this role offers autonomy and the opportunity to influence key organisational decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Provide accurate and practical legal advice across multiple legal areas relevant to local government.

Assist with legal matters including contract drafting, risk assessment, and compliance.

Conduct legal research and analysis, and draft clear and concise legal documents.

Advise on procurement, dispute resolution, and regulatory compliance.

Stay up to date with legislative changes and governance standards.

About You
The ideal candidate will have:

At least 4 years of consecutive experience in a private practice law firm, with a focus on property and regulatory law.

Strong experience in legal interpretation, advisory, and commercial drafting.

The ability to communicate complex legal concepts to a range of stakeholders.

Skills in risk assessment, tender documentation, and contract management.

A relevant tertiary qualification and current legal practicing certificate in Australia.
