The City is looking for a qualified and experienced painter and decorator to join our City Maintenance team. In this position your expertise in painting will be invaluable in the maintenance of the City’s facilities, including buildings, and park structures.
You will be able to carry out planned and reactive painting maintenance, and minor new works to the City’s facilities assets, as well as provide advice, training, support, and assistance to City staff in matters relating to painting and surface coating installations and works.
What can you bring to the team?
- A trade Certificate in Painting and Decorating
- Current unrestricted ‘C’ class national driver’s licence
- Current Construction White Card
- Considerable hands-on experience in a painting trade in the building industry carrying out all facets of building painting works, including new dwellings, industrial buildings, additions and alterations
- Previous experience in preparation of surfaces for painting and decorating including removal and treatment of surfaces affected by graffiti, rust, surface breakdown and minor repairs
- Knowledge of the safe operation and user maintenance of plant, equipment and paint chemicals
- Sound verbal, written and numeracy skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised
- Ability to estimate material quantities and labour costs
- Accredited as a Registered Painter (desirable)
- Senior First Aid Certificate (desirable)
- As part of our recruitment process, you will be required to participate in a full pre-employment medical that includes drug and alcohol testing.

This full time Mechanical and Building Trades position has a salary range of $82,825 to $99,390 dependent on qualifications and experience. This position is located at the City’s Operations Centre, 93 Park Road, Mandurah. We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workforce.
