We are seeking an experienced academic nursing leader with a passion for innovation in learning and teaching and a sustained track record of research to join our energetic, forward-thinking team on our Joondalup campus in Perth, Western Australia. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced nursing academic to make a difference at ECU through innovation in research and teaching and learning.
Overview
The School of Nursing and Midwifery is at the cutting edge of nursing and midwifery education and research through the provision of innovative, high-quality education and translational research that makes a difference in the lives of people in our communities locally, nationally, and internationally. Our purpose is to improve the health and wellbeing of communities for today and future generations by educating aspiring and transformational nursing and midwifery leaders through a lens of humanitarian principles of social justice, equity, and inclusion.
Our staff are experts in their field who collaborate with national and international industry partners and universities. Our purpose is to inspire excellence in nursing/midwifery and practice through innovative and strategic research. The School has a strong focus on simulation-based learning and is seeking to expand on scholarly activity in this area, assisted by state-of-the-art simulation facilities.
The School is rated number one for nursing in Western Australian public universities (Undergraduate Overall Educational Experience, Good Universities Guide 2025) and is ranked in the top 75 in the world for nursing research (Shanghai Ranking 2025).We graduate the most registered nurses in Western Australia, as well as provide a comprehensive range of postgraduate programs of study that prepare students for positions in the nursing and midwifery professions. The School also hosts the only dual degree of nursing and midwifery and the only Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) course in WA.
Selection Criteria
The successful applicant:
- Must be registered or eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a registered nurse.
- Demonstrated breadth of clinical nursing experience.
- Will have completed a PhD.
- Will have completed qualifications in education and/or can demonstrate educational experience within a tertiary or clinical practice setting.
- Will have a sustained track record of research-related activities within a tertiary education or clinical practice setting and;
- Will demonstrate a sound professional and academic track record in a nursing field.
Formal mentorship will be provided to the successful applicant.
You will also be required to demonstrate personal attributes that align with the university’s values of integrity, respect, rational inquiry, personal excellence and courage and the School’s Philosophy.

Benefits & Remuneration
The successful applicant will be appointed to a full-time, continuing position as Senior Lecturer with a salary of $138,726 to $159,403 pa (ALEVC) plus 17% university superannuation.
