Due to the continued growth of our Wollongong Dental Team, we are seeking a dedicated Dental Assistant and Receptionist to join our team and support high-quality patient care.
Location: Wollongong Health Centre (Situated at Wollongong Train Station)
Employment Type: Casual
Pay Rate: approx. $39.90 per hour including 25% Casual Loading (Base Hourly Rate: $31.95)
About the Role:
You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality dental care and ensuring our patients have a positive experience from start to finish. We’re looking for someone who is reliable, proactive, and enjoys working in a collaborative team environment. This role is primarily dental assisting with some reception duties.
While this position is initially offered on a Casual basis, it comes with a view to permanency in the future—contingent on operational needs at the Wollongong Health Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting the dentist during procedures, including chair-side support and sterilisation of instruments;
- Preparing and maintaining treatment rooms and instruments;
- Managing patient appointments, bookings and recalls;
- Welcoming patients and ensuring a positive experience from arrival to departure;
- Handling patient enquiries and coordinating patient care;
- Maintaining patient records and ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date; and
- Managing payments and health fund claims.
What we are looking for:
- Ideally, you’ve spent at least 6 months in a dental setting with hands-on chair-side experience, and either hold a Certificate III in Dental Assisting or are committed to attaining one
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- A positive, friendly attitude with a strong focus on patient care;
- Good organisational skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; and
- Proficiency in dental software (Oasis, Examine Pro) is a plus but not essential.
