IND Technology Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing the assembly and commissioning of mechanical components and systems. This role requires a strong understanding of engineering standards, manufacturability, and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Drafting mechanical parts and assemblies using 2D and 3D CAD software based on detailed technical briefs, applying existing technologies and adapting solutions to production requirements.
Creating and updating 3D models and drawings for manufacturing, applying pre established mechanical design practices to improve product accuracy and ease of fabrication.
Using FEA tools to simulate mechanical behavior, validating the performance of components based on existing design mechanical fundamentals and technologies.
Assisting in the assembly and setup of mechanical systems, adopting tested methods and tools to ensure correct function and safe operation.
Preparing tooling and fabrication documentation to support production teams, helping implement known mechanical technologies into day-to-day manufacturing.
Selecting materials and finishes based on predefined mechanical requirements, applying knowledge of standard engineering materials to ensure durability and compliance.
Working with suppliers to improve components, applying feedback and known manufacturing solutions to solve practical issues and improve production results.
Assisting in mechanical testing procedures, applying standard testing setups and tools to ensure product safety and functionality.
Creating manuals and technical documents, helping apply mechanical knowledge so other teams can operate and maintain the systems correctly.
Reviewing supplier drawings and specs, ensuring that outsourced work follows internal models and adopted technologies.
Supporting improvements in production layout and workflows, applying existing mechanical setups and tools to improve space use and efficiency.
Creating simple checklists and quality control guides, adopting standard inspection processes to ensure consistent assembly results.
Participating in team reviews and updating designs, adopting improvements based on how systems perform in real use cases.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
At least 1 year of experience in sheet metal design (aluminium and steel) and plastic manufacturing (laser cut and injection moulding).
Strong understanding of advanced manufacturing processes for mechanical components such as bending, welding, galvanizing and machining for metal parts.
High understanding of material properties and durability of metals and plastics, such as stress limits, corrosion potentials and impact resistance.
Proficiency in CAD and drafting with SOLIDWORKS and FEA tools integrated in SOLIDWORKS for single parts or assemblies.
Strong understanding of engineering standards and safety regulations.
Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
