Help Finch Save the Classics – Join Our Project Management Office

About Us

Finch Restorations is Australia’s oldest and most respected vehicle restoration business. Founded in 1965, we restore classic, vintage, and prestige vehicles to an exceptional standard for clients across Australia and overseas.

We manage around 40–60 active projects at any given time, ranging from heritage cars to vintage trucks and motorcycles. Our Project Management Office (PMO) plays a central role in coordinating trades, schedules, suppliers, and client communications to ensure each restoration runs smoothly.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Project Manager to join our PMO team and take ownership of a small portfolio of vehicle restoration projects — guiding them from initial planning through to final delivery.

This role is ideal for someone who is highly organised, a strong communicator, and confident working across a team of experienced tradespeople and suppliers. You don’t need to be a qualified mechanic, but you will need to be comfortable discussing vehicle systems and parts — especially those from the 1900 to 1990 era.

You’ll be responsible for day-to-day coordination of tasks, issuing work-orders, managing client expectations, and ensuring timelines and budgets stay on track. Much of your work will be done from our new Hindmarsh site (5 minutes from the Adelaide CBD), with occasional visits to our Adelaide Hills workshops as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate the delivery of assigned projects from start to finish.

Define scopes of work and liaise with workshop supervisors and tradespeople.

Prepare and issue work-orders up to 12 weeks in advance.

Collaborate with our procurement team to ensure parts are ordered on time.

Maintain project records and scheduling data in our ERP system.

Communicate regularly with clients, providing updates and managing expectations.

Assist with invoicing, progress reporting, and basic commercial tracking.

Help facilitate planning meetings and resolve project blockers as needed.

Skills & Experience

Experience in project coordination or management (automotive, manufacturing, or service-based environments preferred).

Confident working with clients, technicians, and suppliers.

Sound understanding of how vehicles are built, assembled, or serviced — especially older models.

Organised and detail-oriented with strong planning and follow-through.

Familiarity with ERP systems and Microsoft Office.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Backgrounds

Project Coordinators, Service Advisors, or Workshop Controllers with client-facing experience.

Estimators or administrators with an understanding of restoration, repair, or auto-related projects.

People with a passion for classic vehicles and the ability to “speak car” across different eras.

What’s in it for You

Join Australia’s longest-standing vehicle restoration workshop.

Be part of a passionate team that blends traditional skills with modern tools.

Coordinate rewarding, one-of-a-kind projects that preserve automotive history.

Enjoy a stable, long-term role with flexibility and work-life balance.

Work from our new Hindmarsh site, with occasional support visits to Mount Barker and Woodside.
