Workskills is a Tasmanian based not-for-profit organisation which has provided employment and skills building services to local communities for 42 years. Workskills has assisted thousands of people to access training and find ongoing, sustainable employment. The organisation currently manage government contracts including Workforce Australia, Transition to Work and Parent Pathways as well as youth services and social initiatives such as Troublesmiths.

The opportunity:

The skills-based Board is seeking to employ a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who will build on the strengths of the organisation and continue to position Workskills as the leading provider of employment and training services in southern Tasmania. The organisation has strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders including federal and state government departments, employers, community organisations as well as their program participants.

The successful individual will be a future-focused CEO to lead the business into its next phase of strategic growth, innovation, and operational excellence. Building on a strong, collaborative culture you will be a commercially astute executive leader with proven experience managing diverse teams and complex delivery structures within the human services sector. Reporting directly to the Board you will be supported by a strong executive team who have been successfully managing their respective divisions for several years.

Key responsibilities:

Implementing Worksills strategic plan and ensuring growth aligns with the organisations long-term vision.

Continually building a collaborative and high-performing culture and ensuring internal and external stakeholders are engaged in the evolution of the organisation.

Driving commercial performance across the different business units, identifying new opportunities and strategic relationships.

Representing and positioning Worksills as a leading provider of services with all key stakeholders including government departments.

Successfully managing risk, governance and financials to ensure operational excellence and sustainable growth.

The individual:

Proven experience as a CEO or senior Executive managing multiple programs within a services industry.

Strong financial and governance acumen (ideally GAICD) with experience reporting to Boards and sub-committees.

Skilled in stakeholder management to identify and develop new opportunities.

A deep understanding of working within a values-based organisation.

A strategic thinker who understands the importance and challenges of innovation and adapting service delivery frameworks within a changing environment.

Tertiary qualifications are preferred yet not mandatory.
