The People Portfolio at UniSQ plays a key role in shaping and supporting a culture and work environment which puts people at the centre of organisational design, function and decision making. The team of high calibre professionals partners with the business to support delivery of UniSQ's strategic plan by delivering on the people, change and performance goals of the University.

The People Portfolio team implements real time action learning and coaching to enhance leader led engagement and accountability across the University. The team provides innovative, connected and forward-thinking people functions to partner effectively with University leadership, employees and other stakeholders to drive transformation of the University’s academic and research priorities across the next five years and beyond.

Who you are

You are a seasoned professional with a strong background in workplace relations, holding relevant tertiary qualifications in law or industrial relations. Your extensive experience within the private or public sector has equipped you with a deep understanding of the Australian industrial relations framework, including employment-related legislation and anti-discrimination laws. You possess exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills, allowing you to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders. Your attention to detail, analytical prowess, and organisational skills enable you to manage multiple complex matters concurrently.

What you'll do

As Consultant (Workplace Relations), you will play a pivotal role i n providing expert advice and support on workplace and industrial relations issues. You will guide senior staff, managers, and employees through complex grievance, performance, and conduct matters, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage employee complaints including conflict resolution and assist in the coordination of complex investigations.
  • Offering strategic guidance on the interpretation and application of the University’s Enterprise Agreement and relevant legislation.
  • Drafting and maintaining documentation to support case matters and disputes.
  • Assisting in the negotiation and implementation of the Enterprise Agreement.
  • Preparing high-quality written documentation for senior stakeholders.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of workplace relations and building leadership capability.
  • Providing specialist advice on human resources policies and procedures.
  • Representing the University in various external jurisdictions and negotiations.

  • Expertise: In-depth knowledge of industrial relations, employment legislation, and human resources policies.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to effectively analyse, problem-solve, consult, and negotiate to resolve workplace issues.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills and experience in conducting workplace investigations.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Proven ability to build relationships and communicate with a diverse range of people.
  • Organisational Skills: Capability to manage multiple complex matters concurrently.

Salary: Total remuneration range $129,036 to $148,172 pa (includes salary range of $109,029 to $125,198 pa, employer super contributions of 17% and annual leave loading)
