The Central West Leadership Academy is an independent, non-denominational, selective school located in Dubbo, NSW. The Academy currently has students from Years K to 12. We offer the IB Diploma Programme for Years 11 and 12. The Academy is the first school west of the mountains to offer this programme. The Academy is a 21st Century Skills school dedicated to closing the regional achievement gaps for its high potential students.

As a Primary Teacher (Stage 3) at Central West Leadership Academy (CWLA), you will play a key role in delivering high-quality education to our gifted and talented students. You will be responsible for creating an engaging, inclusive, and challenging learning environment where students can develop their intellectual potential and thrive personally. Your role will require you to work collaboratively with colleagues, provide individualised support, and contribute to the Academy’s continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Delivery:
Deliver engaging, challenging lessons that meet the needs of high-potential students, fostering their intellectual and personal growth. Use differentiated strategies to ensure each student can access the curriculum at their level and reach their full potential.

Student Assessment:
Implement strategies for effective assessment and feedback to monitor students' progress and achievement. Use evidence-based practices to inform instruction and provide constructive feedback to students and their families.

Individualised Support:
Tailor teaching practices to accommodate the diverse learning needs of each student, ensuring that each child’s strengths are nurtured while addressing areas for growth. Foster an environment where students feel valued, challenged, and motivated.

Collaboration:
Work closely with fellow educators to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. Participate in regular collaboration and professional discussions to share best practices, develop innovative teaching methods, and improve the educational experience for all students.

Professional Development:
Continuously develop your teaching practice by engaging in the Academy’s professional learning opportunities. Stay informed of the latest research and pedagogical strategies, particularly in the areas of gifted education and 21st Century Skills, and integrate these into your teaching practice.

Engagement with Parents and Carers:
Foster strong relationships with students' families, keeping them informed and engaged in their children's learning journey. Communicate regularly with parents/carers regarding academic progress, well-being, and any concerns that may arise.

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

Teacher registration with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)

Working With Children Check (WWCC)

Tertiary qualification in Primary Education

Skills and Experience:

Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, and digital) with the demonstrated ability to build rapport and interact effectively at all levels of the school.

High-level knowledge and understanding of gifted education, including identification, differentiation, 21st Century Skills pedagogy, programs, strategies, and the social and emotional needs of gifted students.

Proven ability to work collaboratively within a school community and contribute to a positive and professional team environment.

A high degree of discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism in handling work situations.

Demonstrated initiative, drive, and self-motivation, with the ability to meet and exceed deadlines.

Ability to use data and research to inform processes, improve teaching practice, and contribute to the strategic direction of the Academy.

High-level ICT skills to support the development of pathways for highly and profoundly gifted learners.

Use the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers to plan personal professional development goals.
