About You
You are a progressive, globally minded, enthusiastic, and dedicated educator who brings strong classroom experience and a passion for personalised learning. You have a proven ability to inspire confidence, curiosity, and excellence in your students.
You are a clear communicator, a creative thinker, and able to build strong relationships in a 1:1 setting. Most importantly, you are genuinely committed to supporting a student’s academic growth and personal development — building both their confidence and their competence.
About the Role
A private family is seeking to appoint a qualified and experienced primary school teacher to work 1:1 with their daughter at home, commencing Term 2, 2025 (or the final week of the school holidays). The start date is flexible for the right candidate.
This is a unique opportunity for an exceptional educator to provide targeted, high-impact teaching to a bright, creative, and enthusiastic Year 5 student who has fallen behind academically and has some diverse learning needs, as identified through a recent cognitive assessment.
Your role will be to consolidate foundational knowledge from previous years and guide the student through the NSW Stage 3 curriculum (Years 5–6), using a structured and engaging approach tailored to her learning profile. You’ll teach in a dedicated home classroom between 8am and 11am daily, after which the student will attend her mainstream school for socialisation and enrichment. Your key deliverables are to:
Design and deliver engaging, structured, and differentiated learning experiences aligned with the NSW primary curriculum
Use evidence-based teaching strategies, particularly in literacy and numeracy
Apply both formative and summative assessments to measure and track progress
Set clear, data-informed learning goals and provide regular feedback to the student and family
Create a calm, nurturing learning environment that supports student wellbeing and confidence
Integrate technology effectively to enhance learning
Liaise with parents and, where appropriate, with the student’s school to ensure a consistent and collaborative approach
Selection Criteria
NESA-accredited primary teacher with at least one year of full-time teaching experience
Sound knowledge of Stages 2 and 3 of the NSW curriculum
Demonstrated experience supporting students with diverse learning needs (desirable)
Exceptional organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills
A growth mindset and commitment to professional learning
Must hold a current Working With Children Check and be legally entitled to work in Australia
Please note: Interviews may be conducted prior to the closing date, and the employer reserves the right to close applications early should a suitable candidate be identified.
