As part of our ongoing commitment to health and safety, we are seeking a qualified and experienced Occupational Health and Safety Advisor to join our national team.
Role Overview
As an Occupational Health and Safety Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in developing and managing occupational health and safety strategies that improve employee wellness, reduce workplace injury rates, and promote a culture of health and safety. This role is vital in ensuring legal compliance and best-practice health risk management in collaboration with our safety and HR teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice on occupational health policies, procedures, and programs.
- Conduct health risk assessments and workplace inspections to identify potential hazards.
- Conduct and coordinate physical examinations, drug and alcohol testing, vision testing, and hearing tests for workers.
- Coordinate injury management and return-to-work processes for affected staff.
- Monitor and evaluate occupational health trends and implement preventative measures.
- Support mental health and wellbeing programs across the workforce.
- Deliver training to staff on topics such as manual handling, ergonomics, and stress management.
- Ensure compliance with relevant Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation and regulatory bodies.
- Liaise with healthcare professionals, insurers, and rehabilitation providers.
- Maintain accurate health records and reports in accordance with data protection policies.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A recognized qualification is advantageous but not essential.
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience in occupational health, workplace safety, or a medical background is required.
- Demonstrated understanding of WHS legislation in an Australian or comparable context.
- Proven experience in injury management and rehabilitation coordination.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work across multiple stakeholders.
- Professional certifications required where applicable.
