About us

Exciting Opportunity to join a team focused on safety. BYDA is looking for two part-time roles to provide free education and awareness sessions across NSW and the ACT.

For over 30 years, Before You Dig Australia (BYDA) has partnered with industries involved in the delivery of essential services across Australia to keep construction workers and the community safe during excavation projects. We are a not-for-profit Member organisation comprising asset owning and non-asset owning members who support our vision of zero damage, zero harm across Australia. BYDA provides free education and awareness sessions to the civil construction industry and associated workplaces, each session covers a range of topics of discussion, including:

how the BYDA referral service works

the importance of safe excavation

safe work practices

complying with asset-owner instructions

consequences of damaging infrastructure

avoiding damage to assets and the community

Qualifications & experience

Ideally you are from a training background

Experienced in public speaking and facilitating training sessions

Strong relationship builder and team player

WHS or Utility experience well regarded

Tasks & responsibilities

Plan and deliver Before You Dig training and awareness sessions across NSW/ACT with a focus on safe digging practices to deliver our vision of Zero Damage - Zero Harm

Contribute to the central management and improvement of national instructional training material

Facilitate and deliver workshops and forums for members and industry

Advocate as required with relevant industry bodies for the development of training programs and qualifications that will assist in promoting safe work practices and asset protection.

Work with members to identify training needs and requirements of individuals and organisations.

Enhance and improve training, awareness and engagement of BYDA within industry.
