About the Role
As a Cook, your attention to detail and commitment to quality will shine in this fast-paced kitchen environment. You’ll prepare, plate, and present dishes to the highest standard while upholding food safety practices and contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook meals according to menu specifications, including seasonal dishes and dietary requests
Ensure consistent quality, portion control, and timely service of all meals
Maintain a clean and organised workstation and comply with hygiene standards and HACCP procedures
Inspect and handle food ingredients to ensure freshness and quality, avoiding contamination and spoilage
Regulate and maintain correct cooking temperatures of ovens, grills, and other kitchen equipment
Garnish and present food as per the brand's quality standards
When necessary, contribute to menu planning, estimate food requirements, and suggest options for functions and special orders
Supervise and assist kitchen staff, including training apprentices and junior staff as needed
Undertake inventory control, stock rotation (FIFO), and monitor requisitions of raw materials and equipment
Coordinate proactively with front-of-house staff and respond to customer needs where applicable
Organise and support functions based on customer’s requirements and budgets
Support smooth kitchen operations during peak periods and contribute to refining processes
Maintain all kitchen equipment in good working condition and ensure high levels of cleanliness throughout the café
You Must Be:
Passionate about preparing and presenting food that brings joy.
Driven to master your craft and uphold food excellence
Ready to pitch in and get the job done with a positive attitude
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery is required
At least 1 year of relevant cooking experience within the past five years
Able to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating leadership and problem-solving skills
Strong communicator with good time management and adaptability during busy service hours
