As Western Australia's leading and most progressive Aboriginal Corporation, we are actively seeking experienced and dedicated individuals to join our Family Support service, Wungening Moort.
Reporting to the Wungening Moort Coordinator, these positions will work within the Wungening Moort Aboriginal In-Home Support Service (AISS). This service is delivered through a Consortium of four Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, comprising Ebenezer Aboriginal Corporation, Moorditj Koort, Coolabaroo Community Services, and led by the Wungening Aboriginal Corporation.
There are 3 Family Support Worker vacancies with Ebenezer (Mirrabooka), Coolabaroo (Mirrabooka) and Wungening (Midland). Interviews will be done collaboratively.
ABOUT THE ROLES
You will work alongside Wungening Moorts Case Workers to intensively engage and support the most vulnerable Aboriginal families in the Perth Metropolitan area. Your focus will be to work with families to nurture moorditj djerripin koorlungas (strong happy children). You will support the team to engage families in a meaningful way while providing practical and parenting support. Your warm and non-judgemental engagement style will support the services therapeutic relationship with families. Your understanding of Aboriginal values, norms and family structures will ensure the service promotes self-determination and family participation in all aspects of service delivery.
This will enable the service to deliver the outcomes prescribed by our funding body:
Families improve parenting skills to safely care for their children
Families address issues that impact negatively on their children
Families develop skills and get their children to school
Families improve and develop culturally safe support networks
You will promote a learning culture within the team and be an active contributor to the continuous improvement of the service.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Must identify as Aboriginal to be considered An understanding of issues and challenges facing Aboriginal families
An understanding of the importance healing, a strong Aboriginal identity and the impact of trauma.
Ability to provide parenting and practical support to families in vulnerable situations.
Demonstrated ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and community.
Demonstrated ability to be part of a team in order to deliver a quality service and achieve client outcomes.
Demonstrated interpersonal and written communication skills.
Demonstrable commitment to empowering and respecting children and young people.
Demonstrated ability to provide safe environments for children and young people and protect them from abuse and neglect.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
WA Working with Children Card
Police Clearance (dated within the last 3 months)
WA Drivers Licence
Department of Communities Screening (we'll help successful candidates to apply)
