About the Role
Barnardos are looking for two full-time Intake Workers for 8-month contracts within the Family Connect and Support program based in Auburn, 2144.

This role offers flexible working arrangements, including the option to work from home two days a week.

The Intake Worker will be responsible for;

  • Provide a direct service including intake, assessment and provision of advice and referrals
  • Undertake assessment of the families’ needs and risk utilising the provided assessment framework
  • Provide case co-ordination of clients who through an FCS referral have engaged with the service
  • Work collaboratively with the Intake Program Manager and other Team Leaders to allocate cases based on complexity and client needs
  • Provide timely and effective advice, support, and referral services to clients and the community
  • Establish and maintain network relationships with key agencies, other providers, and referral services
  • Accurately enter enquiries, client details, and referral data into the case management system

About You
As a Intake Worker, you will ideally have;

  • Minimum Certificate 4 Community Services or related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience of working with children and young people and their family in a child protection context, including experience in undertaking comprehensive assessment
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in information provision, intake, assessment and referral for families in need of support services
  • Excellent understanding of child protection issues and client vulnerabilities such as drug and alcohol use, domestic violence, mental health issues, and the impact of trauma and the effect on child behaviour and development
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Demonstrated computer competence and experience of using electronic case management tools

Salary: Base $63,521 to $73,804 per annum plus leave loading plus superannuation. Packaging available to receive $15,860 of your salary tax free. Motor vehicle packaging available on selected roles.

To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number) and for the ACT a Drivers History Check, Working with Vulnerable People Card and CYPS Check.

Vaccination for COVID-19 is a condition of employment and engagement with Barnardos.
