Position Purpose
This role is responsible for leading Tuga’s Transport team and making sure all deliveries, supply chain tasks, and fleet operations run smoothly. You’ll make sure everything is done efficiently and on time, from managing routes to keeping our vehicles in great shape. You’ll also look for ways to improve how we do things and help solve any daily issues that come up.
Key Responsibilities
Transport & Supply Chain Distribution
Review current supply and delivery processes, identify ineffiencies and recommend improvements that enhance operational efficiency.
Manage and optimize delivery routes, including overseeing fuel cost, toll fare management, and shipment tracing, ensuring all routes are as efficient and cost-effective as possible.
Monitor real-time logistics tracking and ensure that any delays or disruptions are addressed promptly, fixing any issues or delays quickly.
Work with other teams and outside partners to make sure deliveries happen on time.
Track performance and suggest ways to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and avoid delays.
Fleet Management
Create and implement training documents and schedules for drivers to develop their skills and qualifications, covering all aspects of required driving for Tuga (cross-training on different routes, market drop-offs, pick-ups, and inter-Tuga site transfers).
Be available to resolve queries during delivery runs and step in as necessary to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of deliveries.
Provide excellent customer service, answering client queries, and addressing feedback or concerns.
Ensure transport team are adhering to assigned routes, following time schedules, and maintaining compliance with all transportation laws and safety protocols.
Prepare reports on deliveries, team performance, overtime, product feedback, fleet maintenance, etc.
Ensure all vehicles in the Tuga fleet are properly maintained, serviced, and cleaned.
Monitor adherence to key protocols, delivery schedules, and access instructions for drop-offs.
Complete weekly rosters that adhere to the established wage budget.
Troubleshoot, problem-solve, and report on solutions to the Director of Operations.
Essential Knowledge and Experience
Qualification in Supply Chain Management or similar.
Valid driver’s license
Proven experience in supply chain management or logistics.
Strong analytical skills
Willingness to adhere to safety procedures, and transportation laws.
Strong time management, organisational, and customer service skills.
Attention to detail and a “can-do” attitude with the ability to work as part of a team.
