Position Description

Lamnoo Australia Pty Ltd, a cutting-edge biotechnology startup, is seeking a highly accomplished Genomic Technology Research Lead to spearhead the theoretical aspects of developing next-generation molecular biology reactions and components, with a specific focus on advanced ATAC-seq library preparation technologies. The successful candidate will lead the scientific and technical vision of our genomic assay development pipeline and play a foundational role in building and guiding a multidisciplinary R&D team. Position Responsibilities

Partner with the molecular biology lead to conceptualize and execute computational design of oligonucleotides, enzymes, and reactions.

Lead the design and development of novel molecular biology reactions, particularly optimized ATAC-seq workflows.

Provide technical leadership and guidance on assay biochemistry, particularly transposase-mediated reactions.

Design, implement, and maintain advanced software tools for sequencing data analysis.

Develop and implement bioinformatics pipelines and statistical models for QC and analysis of sequencing data.

Manage intellectual property strategy, including drafting and supporting patent filings.

Recruit, mentor, and lead a growing R&D team of molecular biologists and computational scientists.

Collaborate cross-functionally across product, engineering, and executive teams.

Maintain and champion scientific rigor, reproducibility, and documentation standards.

Required Skills & Experience

PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related discipline.

15+ years of hands-on experience in both academic and industrial genomic research and technology development.

Proven track record of impactful academic publications and leadership in the genomics field.

Demonstrated success in patent development and IP strategy.

Deep understanding of transposase biochemistry, oligo design, and common molecular biology reactions.

Broad knowledge of sequencing platforms and chemistry (e.g. Illumina, Nanopore, PacBio).

Advanced statistical knowledge for sequencing data interpretation.

Extensive experience with C++, Python, and R for bioinformatic sequence analysis (≥15 years), including: data wrangling, visualization, modeling, workflow development, and large-scale sequencing data analysis.

Strong software development practices including git, documentation, code reviews, and project management.

Demonstrated prior success in leading a small technology startup through R&D of its foundational technology

Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.

Desirable Skills

Experience with ATAC-seq or epigenomic technologies.

Experience with cloud-based bioinformatics.

Familiarity with synthetic biology techniques.

Experience writing grants or scientific reports for regulatory or funding agencies.

Prior experience hiring and managing multidisciplinary technical teams.

Contract period

Initial contract period of 3-6 months, with possibility of extension depending on the company meeting its development milestones
