This position in Queensland Treasury offers you a unique chance to bring your accounting expertise to the forefront. The Principal Accountant will be responsible for assisting Managers in leading the Corporate Accounting and Operations team, thereby playing a vital role in influencing the team's capabilities and ensuring effective governance of Treasury's financial resources.
In this role, you will:
• Lead teams responsible for financial accounting, operations and reporting services.
• Foster more innovative business approaches.
• Drive growth and ensure effective management of Treasury's financial resources.
• Play an integral part in delivering essential financial services to both the department and Whole of Government.
What experience you will bring:
• Comprehensive understanding of financial accounting, reporting and operational processes and procedures to effectively assist in managing the production of financial statements and the provision of financial operational services.
• Comprehensive understanding of accounting standards, legislation and policies applicable to Queensland Government departments.
• Strong accounting, reporting and analytical skills and experiences, along with excellence in client service delivery.
• Demonstrated ability to manage teams, effectively guiding them towards the achievement of organisational goals.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills to foster collaboration, communicate with influence, provide expert advice, and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
• Experience in implementing robust controls and mitigating financial risks.
Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, relevant qualifications will be highly regarded.
