Statewide Services are seeking to establish a pool of Social Workers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2025 and up to the end of June, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Service Planning and Coordination (SPC) Directorate provides the systems and processes that enable an integrated model of support to schools, which enables them to access the services and advice they need to address their student achievement challenges. Family and Interagency Response in Education (FAIRE) is a multidisciplinary team within the SPC Directorate, that provides short-term intensive support to students presenting with the most complex needs and their families, as well as planning support to schools and regions, where required.

The Role

In this role, you will be part of FAIRE’s multi-disciplinary team providing support for the students in most need in public schools. The successful applicants will work collaboratively with families, schools and education regions to reduce the complexities impacting students most in need and supporting them to better engage with their learning. Responsibilities include undertaking social work assessments, case formulations and interventions of referred students and their families.

Social Workers support referred students and their families, through short-term intervention, to address barriers preventing successful engagement with external services, and may broker access to these services as appropriate. External services may include National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and their providers, mental health services, and a range of Government Departments and Non-Government Organisations. Social Workers utilise effective communication skills to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team to plan and deliver culturally responsive support to students and their families to improve student outcomes in education.

Social Workers collaborate with schools and regions to improve student achievement through whole-school approaches that enhance teaching quality and student outcomes. You will provide expert advice and consultation, contribute to case conferences, and support staff through training and professional development initiatives. Your responsibilities will include maintaining accurate records, contributing to research projects, and ensuring services align with system priorities and the needs of individual school communities. With a strong commitment to culturally responsive practices, you will work alongside stakeholders to deliver integrated and effective support for students.

The work will include school and home visits, and travel to regional areas, as the team provides direct support to young people across Western Australia.
