SEA Global (SEA) are looking for a skilled Materials Engineer to join our team. The role involves developing material specifications for subsea pipelines and components, including coatings and cathodic protection design for subsea systems. The successful candidate will contribute to corporate standards for corrosion rates in marine environments and participate in research on carbon capture technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Materials Selection and Engineering:

Develop specifications for subsea pipelines and components, including coatings, anodes, and induction bends

Select appropriate coating systems for various applications and define testing and inspection requirements

Conduct cathodic protection design for subsea systems

Generate corporate standards for corrosion rates in marine environments

Conduct research on carbon capture technologies and analyse their effects on CO2 composition

2. Coatings & Corrosion Protection:

a. Select appropriate coatings and corrosion protection systems for offshore and marine applications

b. Evaluate and recommend advanced corrosion mitigation strategies

c. Investigate material degradation mechanisms in challenging marine environments

d. Develop innovative solutions for long-term asset integrity

e. Contribute to research on emerging carbon capture and storage technologies

3. Technical Documentation and Standards

a. Prepare detailed technical reports and specifications

b. Create and update engineering standards and guidelines

c. Document research findings and material performance assessments

d. Support technical communication with internal teams and clients

Skills and Experience:

1. Qualifications and Experience

a. Master’s degree in Chemical Technology

b. +4 years experience in R&D within materials industry

c. Experience with offshore (subsea) energy infrastructure projects

d. Strong analytical skills to evaluate material properties and develop technical specifications

e. Proficiency in laboratory-scale chemical synthesis and material testing

f. Advanced English proficiency
