  • Senior Project Officer (Environment Officer Class 9)
  • Temporary (Up to Date 30 June 2026) full-time (35 hours per week) opportunity
  • Office location is Queanbeyan or Parramatta – other offices by negotiation, regional location encouraged/Hybrid working supported
  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $120,701 to $134,460 + super

The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Project Officer to join the Conservation Programs, Heritage and Regulation Group.

In this role you will lead and contribute expertise to inform and support the delivery of Environmental Water Programs. This role is part of a dynamic and geographic dispersed team managing place-based floodplain projects, developing engagement strategies and strategic partnerships, providing expert advice and undertaking complex technical analyses to ensure key objectives are achieved.

About You

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Experience in a senior role, assisting in the successful delivery of program objectives.
  • Knowledge and experience in the delivery of large-scale environmental-related or land management projects, including at least one element related to planning approvals or civil engineering or program management, governance and reporting or strategic partnerships and codesign.
  • Experience in land manager/stakeholder engagement to facilitate environmental program delivery.
  • Knowledge of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan and frameworks related to environmental management in the Basin.

Key knowledge and experience

  • Experience in a senior project role, assisting in the successful delivery of project deliverables and objectives.
