Key responsibilities
In the role of Senior Advisor (RTI and Privacy), some of your key responsibilities will include:
• Decision-making under the Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld) (RTI Act) and Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) (IP Act) on complex and sensitive matters and assist in the development, implementation and on-going support of policies, processes and systems required to ensure TMR meets its obligations under the RTI and IP Acts.
• As a senior member of the team, foster a team-based environment by providing advice, including coaching and mentoring to staff to ensure that the necessary skills and motivation exists within the team.
• Prepare detailed correspondence, including decision notices, reports and advice on issues arising from access applications, Ministerial and Director-General briefs and external review submissions to the Office of the Information Commissioner
(OIC).
• Delivery of training sessions and the development of resources, as well as identifying ongoing educational needs of departmental officers in relation to Right to Information, Information Privacy and accessing information held by TMR.
• Engaging with key internal and external stakeholders and establishing strategic relationships with other state and local government agencies, including the Office of the Minister for Transport and Main Roads (Minister) and the OIC.

Requirements of the role
• Demonstrated high-level decision-making skills on complex and sensitive RTI and IP matters (or transferable legislative decision-making skills).
• High level of experience interpreting and applying legislation and providing advice to internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, while displaying a high level of emotional intelligence,
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships within a team, management and stakeholders.
• Demonstrated self-management skills.
• Experience developing and facilitating effective learning and training tools/resources.

A criminal history check will be undertaken on the successful candidate.
