About this role
Our Intensive Family Support Service helps strengthen families so children can live safely at home. We deliver voluntary services to families with complex needs and who are at risk of entering or escalating within the statutory child protection system. This role is one of two Domestic and Family Violence Specialists in our multidisciplinary team, working alongside case managers to undertake risk assessment and provide effective, flexible and holistic intervention to families experiencing domestic violence.
Duties
Support case managers by undertaking risk assessment, safety planning and coordinating responses for families experiencing domestic violence
Provide brief counselling and psychoeducation to victims of domestic violence
Liaise with key stakeholders and agencies including QPS, Courts and specialist DFV services
Attend relevant High Risk Team meetings and DFV stakeholder meetings in the catchment
Share relevant information and participate in the professional development of the team
Efficient time management and organisational skills to balance competing demands and provide timely responses to clients

Skills and Experience
A relevant tertiary (degree) qualification in social work, community services or similar
At least 3-4 years experience in a similar role
Experience providing direct and intensive intervention to parents and children affected by trauma, domestic violence, mental health, or other forms of adversity using a strengths based, therapeutic approach
Ability to assess current risk, experience in using risk assessment tools and developing appropriate safety plans
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice response to domestic violence including use of exclusion orders, ADVO/APVO etc
Current drivers licence essential
