In this laboratory-based role, you will contribute to recombinant protein production by supporting molecular engineering, protein expression, purification, and characterisation. This opportunity is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in laboratory techniques who is eager to expand their skills in a collaborative, research-focused setting. You'll gain hands-on experience with advanced methods such as SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, and buffer/media preparation, while supporting the day-to-day operations of a high-performing lab. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Support recombinant protein production, including molecular engineering, protein expression, purification, and characterisation.
  • Prepare laboratory reagents such as buffers and media and perform routine analyses including SDS-PAGE and Western blotting.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure compliance with safety, risk management, and biosafety protocols.
  • Assist with general laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance, stock control, and housekeeping tasks.

About You
  • Completion of a degree in a relevant scientific discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in buffer and media preparation, as well as routine laboratory techniques such as SDS-PAGE and Western blotting.
  • Proven ability to follow protocols and work collaboratively in a laboratory team environment.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate laboratory records and high-quality results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proactive and professional approach to laboratory work.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including right to work in Australia and a criminal check.
