The opportunity:
As a Technical Officer, you will work with an energetic team undertaking Participatory Action Research on farms with growers and agronomists to understand the risks and rewards to major decisions and practices in grain farming systems.

What we are looking for: (qualifications, registrations, experience)
You must possess a:
• a relevant diploma or equivalent qualification in Applied Science or similar field from a recognised tertiary institution.
• Current 'C' Class driver licence, with the ability to get a manual licence.

This role requires the ability (or ability to learn) to coordinate, conduct and support on-farm research activities, eg planting, spraying, harvesting, soil sampling, application of treatments and monitoring of sites and to operate farm and research machinery. You will have an ability and willingness to travel, including overnight, to service research sites in southern Queensland.

You will have empathy with farmers and agronomists and have an ability to communicate with them as they identify and test new options to improve their farming systems.

You will have a keen eye for detail, great time management and effective problemsolving skills, with a positive attitude, to contribute to our close-knit and connected team.

This role is ideally suited to recent graduates who can develop their knowledge and skills with an experienced RDE team, or more experienced staff who can bring their current expertise to share with the team. The role may also suit students who can complete their qualification on a part-time basis while working and gaining the experience to make them attractive for ongoing employment on graduation.
