As the trustee for the Fitzroy Crossing Trust, Leedal supports six local Indigenous corporations, ensuring responsible management of key community assets and businesses.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Accountant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the financial health of our organization, managing budgets, financial reporting, and contributing to the overall financial integrity of the company.

Key responsibilities:

Your responsibilities include, but not limited to;

  • Responsible for bank reconciliation across the entities.
  • Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.
  • Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Preparation of Business Activity Statements, Instalment Activity Statements, payroll tax, FBT return.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements with trend analysis for presentation to board of directors, management, shareholders, and governing and statutory bodies.
  • Providing assurance about the accuracy of information contained in financial reports and their compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Overview of payroll & examining operating costs and organization's income and expenditure with advising management of any expense overruns.
  • Liaising with banks, Auditors, ATO & other statutory bodies.
  • Responsible for the year-end audit reconciliation.
  • Assisting CFO in formulating budgetary and accounting policies
  • In conjunction with the CFO, prepare annual budgets and presentations.
  • Assist CFO with conducting financial investigations, preparing reports, undertaking audits, and advising on business matters.
  • Setting up & maintaining internal management controls.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative approaches to financial service delivery, review, enhancement and implementation of procedures and systems and improved reporting practices.
  • Supervise all assistant accountants & bookkeeping personnel work.

Must have:

  • Successful candidate must have a Bachelor in Accounting/Finance or a Member of a Professional Body in Australia or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in above areas.
  • Ability to work in both MYOB and Xero.
  • Drive for continuous improvement.
  • Strong attention to detail and a team player with a positive mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Remuneration:

  • Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 per year + Super.
  • There will be annual review of performance for higher incentives and bonuses.
  • Accommodation will be provided close to office.

  • The company will pay for any professional training & development courses i.e. CA/CPA.
