About the Role
As a Disability Support Worker in the Everton Park area, you’ll support a participant with an intellectual disability who is transitioning into a Supported Independent Living (SIL) arrangement. The participant enjoys gardening, scooting, and exercise, and is seeking support in their daily activities and spiritual practices. This role will help them develop their independence while providing a caring, safe, and supportive environment.

You will assist with daily living tasks, community participation, and providing spiritual support in alignment with the participant’s preferences and values. Your care and support will be key to helping them achieve their goals and thrive in their new living environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with personal care, medication, meal preparation, and other daily tasks.

Support the participant in gardening, scooting, and exercise to foster independence and wellbeing.

Engage in spiritual support activities, including reading the Bible to the participant as part of their evening routine.

Promote community participation by assisting the participant with accessing services, activities, and venues they enjoy.

Help with household tasks, including cleaning, tidying, and maintaining a comfortable and supportive home environment.

Follow care plans, report concerns, and ensure the participant’s best outcomes.

Work as a team player, attending team meetings and engaging in ongoing training to enhance your skills.

Who We’re Looking For:
We are looking for caring, reliable, and flexible individuals who want to make a positive impact on the lives of others. You should be compassionate and ready to support the participant in their journey to independence and community involvement.

Mandatory Requirements:

First Aid & CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain).

Certificate III in Individual Support (or equivalent experience).

Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and NDIS Worker Screening Card (Yellow Card), or willingness to obtain before commencement.

Australian Driver’s Licence and your own vehicle with comprehensive car insurance.

Preferred (but not essential):

Manual handling training.

Medication administration training.

Previous experience in disability support or working with individuals transitioning into Supported Independent Living (SIL) arrangements.

Client Information:
The participant is located in Everton Park and enjoys engaging in gardening, scooting, and exercise as part of their daily routine. They are transitioning into a Supported Independent Living (SIL) environment and require support in maintaining their independence, engaging in spiritual practices, and accessing the community.

Shift Details:

Shift Hours: 24/7

Key Duties:

Assist with exercise, showers, personal care, and meals.

Support the participant with their bedtime routine.

Read the Bible to the participant as part of their evening routine, offering spiritual support and encouragement.
