Position Overview
True Supportive Care is seeking compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Workers to join our team. This pivotal role supports individuals living with disabilities, assisting them in leading independent, fulfilling lives. You will provide high-quality care and support tailored to the unique needs of each person, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Personal Care & Support: Assist clients with daily living tasks, including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, mobility, and feeding, while maintaining dignity and respect.
Implement Care Plans: Work collaboratively with clients, their families, and healthcare professionals to create, monitor, and adjust individual care plans.
Health & Safety: Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of clients at all times. Assist with medications as prescribed and monitor clients for changes in condition.
Community Participation & Social Support: Support clients in accessing community resources, recreational activities, and social events, promoting inclusion and a sense of belonging.
Advocacy: Advocate for clients' rights and needs, ensuring they have a voice in decisions affecting their lives.
Record Keeping & Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on care plans, incidents, medications, and other relevant documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, family members, and other support workers to ensure the best outcomes for clients.
Training & Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training and development to enhance your skills and stay current with industry standards.
Key Qualifications & Skills
Essential Qualifications:
Certificate III or IV in Disability Support, Community Services, or equivalent (or relevant experience).
Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
Current Worker Screening Check or Willingness to obtain
Current Driver’s License and reliable transportation (if required).
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience working with individuals with physical, intellectual, or sensory disabilities.
Knowledge of relevant disability legislation, NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme), and best practices in disability care.
Additional certifications in mental health, behavioral support, or other related areas are advantageous.
Skills & Attributes:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients and their families.
Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
Ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism, resilience, and a solutions-focused approach.
