As part of our ambitious growth strategy, we are seeking a high-calibre Financial Controller to lead our financial operations and support the expansion of our network of clinics across Australia.

About the Role

We are looking for a Financial Controller who is analytical, detail-oriented, and excited about the prospect of working within a fast-growing M&A-driven healthcare business. Reporting directly to the CEO & CFO, you will play a key role in managing the accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes, overseeing a team of three finance administrators, and ensuring the financial integrity of our organisation.

This is a strategic and hands-on role requiring a deep understanding of financial processes, cash flow management, and revenue reconciliation. You will be instrumental in maintaining strong financial discipline while supporting Nova’s aggressive growth strategy through acquisitions and practice integrations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Management, Oversight & Tax Compliance

Manage and oversee the Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions to ensure timely and accurate financial transactions.

Supervise and provide leadership to a team of three finance administrators, ensuring their responsibilities and actions align with company goals.

Ensure compliance with Australian financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax requirements.

Liaise with the Australian accounting firm we use responsible for lodging BAS and tax obligations to the ATO, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.

Oversee the reconciliation of financial data in Xero, ensuring accuracy in all financial records.

2. Accounts Receivable (AR) & Revenue Reconciliation

Oversee the daily reconciliation process of transactions recorded in Xero, ensuring accurate reporting of gross revenue.

Identify and ensure the AR specialist follows up on payment discrepancies, ensuring all treatment plan payments align with the expected amounts.

Implement collections procedures to manage overdue patient balances, coordinating with the sales and patient experience teams.

Ensure that monthly intercompany invoicing processes are executed on time.

3. Accounts Payable (AP) & Cash Flow Management

Oversee vendor payments, lease obligations, and clinic expenses, ensuring all invoices are processed efficiently.

Manage cash flow forecasting, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operational needs and growth investments.

Ensure cost control measures are in place to optimise operational spending and maximise profitability.

4. Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Financial Integration

Support the financial due diligence process for practice acquisitions and mergers.

Assist in financial modelling and forecasting to evaluate the viability of potential acquisitions.

Work closely with the executive team to ensure a smooth financial integration of new clinics into the Nova Dental Implant Centre network.

5. Monthly Revenue Performance Review, Revenue Management & Tax Compliance

Prepare and present actual financial metrics compared to forecasted KPIs, ensuring alignment with financial targets and business growth strategies.

Evaluate progress toward monthly and quarterly revenue goals, identifying variances and opportunities for improvement.

Adjust financial forecasts based on performance trends and insights.

Collaborate with the CRO to analyse revenue drivers, monitor monthly revenue growth, and identify areas for improvement.

Ensure timely closure and reconciliation of monthly revenue.

Monitor the status of accounts receivable and overdue accounts.

Report on accounts payable status, including supplier payments, debt repayments, and operational expenses.

Generate and review Profit & Loss statements and monthly cash flow reconciliation.

Prepare financial reports, P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash flow analyses to support executive decision-making.

Collaborate with the leadership team to optimise financial operations and support long-term business growth.

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for a highly motivated finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. The ideal candidate will have:

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (CPA or CA preferred).

3+ years of experience in financial management, preferably in healthcare, professional services, or corporate finance.

Strong experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow forecasting.

Strong knowledge of Xero and financial reporting systems.

Interest or experience in Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) finance.

Ability to lead a team and oversee outsourced finance operations.

Strong problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
