The Role

We are seeking an experienced Civil Designer with 5-8 years of relevant experience to join our Townsville team. This senior position will involve leading design projects, mentoring junior staff, and working closely with our engineering and project management teams to deliver high-quality civil infrastructure designs.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design process for civil infrastructure projects including roads, drainage systems, water and sewer networks, and site developments

Prepare detailed design calculations, reports, and construction documentation

Develop complex 3D models and perform earthworks optimization

Assist with stormwater management

Coordinate with regulatory authorities and manage compliance with local standards

Provide technical guidance to drafters and junior designers

Assist with construction phase services including technical queries and design modifications

Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements and constraints

Contribute to proposals, fee estimates, and technical specifications

Essential Requirements

5-8 years' experience in civil design for infrastructure and development projects

Associate's Degree in Civil Engineering or relevant qualification

Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D

Experience with 12d Model software

Strong knowledge of Australian design standards and QLD regulatory requirements

Experience with tropical region civil infrastructure and stormwater management

Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical skills

Strong project management capabilities and ability to meet deadlines

Excellent communication and client relationship skills

Desirable Skills

Experience with road and highway design projects

Knowledge of GIS applications

Experience with civil infrastructure for major developments

Experience with flood modeling and mitigation strategies for roadways

Understanding of North Queensland council submission requirements for transport projects

Experience with mining or industrial access road infrastructure
