Our flagship program, YAL Connect, offers scholarships and holistic support to young Australians who face barriers to achieving their aspirations. This program has grown from supporting 7 young people in 2015 to 91 over the last 10 years, offering not only financial assistance but also a wraparound support system to ensure success.
About the Role:
You will be managing a well-established and successful program providing scholarships with wrap around holistic support for a group of young people located across Australia. In this role you will be supported by a friendly team of professionals who share a passion for helping our young people and adapting to their changing needs now and into the future.
The role includes fostering relationships with the scholarship recipients as well as tracking and reporting against program criteria. Majority of the work will be conducted at our office in Osborne Park, with some travel to alternative locations on occasion. Communications will be conducted over various media as well as face-to-face.
In addition to the intensive support of the scholarship recipients the role also includes fostering relationships with other support agencies & school-based youth practitioners to expand the visibility of not only the YAL Connect scholarship program but also other emerging programs.
Engagement with Alumni and working with the YAL Youth Advisory Committee will also be included in this role.
As the Youth Program Coordinator, you will be the connection between our scholarship recipients and the resources they need to thrive. You will provide mentoring, track progress, and collaborate with partners to ensure that every participant has the tools and support necessary to achieve their goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Mentoring: Build strong, supportive relationships with scholarship recipients, offering guidance, advice, and encouragement.
Tracking & Reporting: Collect data, monitor progress, and report on outcomes to assess program effectiveness.
Collaboration: Work with community partners, support services, and other organisations to provide holistic support to recipients.
Communication: Engage with recipients and stakeholders through a variety of communication channels, including in-person meetings and virtual platforms.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Demonstrated experience in mentoring and supporting individuals with complex needs.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Experience in gathering data and preparing reports on program outcomes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Cultural competency and sensitivity when working with diverse groups.
Requirements:
Driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel.
Working with Children Card
National Police Clearance (less than three months old) Please note: this is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as a requirement for appointment into the role.
Qualifications in Social Work, Youth Work, or a related field.
