We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accountant to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis.
About the role
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Accountant to join our team and support our financial operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the financial records of the business, ensuring compliance with Australian accounting standards, and providing key financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
Accountant Responsibilities:
Prepare and examine financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Australian regulations and reporting standards.
Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures.
Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Analyse financial data to identify trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred.
Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS), income tax returns, PAYG, GST and liaise with the ATO as required.
Monitor cash flow and financial performance and provide monthly reporting to management.
Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions.
Provide support during audits and liaise with external auditors.
Advise on strategies for cost reduction, revenue enhancement, and profit maximization.
Assist in the implementation and monitoring of internal controls.
Maintain accounting software and systems, ensuring integrity and accuracy of financial information.
Creating the commission reports for agents.
Ensure the accuracy and confidentiality of payroll data.
Create and manage student invoices according to enrolment and payment plans.
Send invoices to students and follow up on outstanding payments.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
A degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
Minimum of 2 - 4 years' relevant experience in a similar role.
Proficiency in accounting software in Xero.
Strong understanding of Australian taxation and financial regulations.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Desirable:
CPA or CA qualification (or working towards).
Experience in preparing reports for management and external stakeholders.
Knowledge of payroll and superannuation compliance.
