What are we looking for?
Are you experienced in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of Environmental Health Services? Do you have demonstrated leadership skills as well as excellent communication skills? Do you have the ability to navigate compliance and enforcement activities? We are looking for an experienced and suitably qualified Environmental Health Officer who is passionate about contributing to and making a positive impact on our Environmental Health Services programs and initiatives.
About the Opportunity
In this vital role, you will support the Coordinator Environmental Health by undertaking complex assessments, managing complex health matters and providing technical advice as well as support and training to our dedicated team. You’ll conduct routine assessments, review development applications and ensure compliance with key legislation. Your experience in stakeholder engagement and supporting cross functional compliance activities will be essential to your success in this position.
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
Essential
Qualifications acceptable to the Executive Director of Public Health for appointment as an Environmental Health Officer or authorised person.
Appointment as Authorised Person and Inspector under the Environmental Protection Act 1986 or eligibility for such appointment.
Sound knowledge and practical application of the Food Act 2008, Health (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1911, and Environmental Protection Act 1986.
Experience in conducting Environmental Health assessments, enquiries and programs.
Demonstrated experience in compliance and enforcement activities, including initiating and undertaking legal proceedings.
Written and verbal communication skills including report writing.
Excellent negotiation, decision making and conflict resolution skills.
Current ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence.
